Foodies for spring

After a month of self restriction, the spring blossoms with new culinary joys for London! We've picked the ones that definitely get our taste buds going.

BAO, 53 Lexington Street, London W1F 9AS
From Taipei hails the steamed bao bun. After gaining fame at both Kerb Food Market and Netil Market in Hackney, BAO is ready to open their first restaurant in Soho. Alongside their cult classic buns with various fillings (pictured above), the menu includes soy milk fried chicken and lamb tongue fries. Opens in Spring 2015.

The Richmond, 316 Queensbridge Road, E8 3NH
Taking over the previously Egyptian flavoured corner of Richmond and Queensbridge roads is a new restaurant embracing snacks, comfort food, and a raw bar. The brains behind the concept are Brett Redman of Elliot’s in Borough Market and our stylist and faboosh consultant Margaret Crow. Expect the impeccable standards of quality they’ve both become known for. Opens in March 2015.

Jose Pizarro, Broadgate Circle, London EC2
Everybody loves Spanish food. And Jose Pizarro knows it. That’s why he is opening his third restaurant in London, this time by Liverpool Street. Be ready to blow your taste buds with Spanish delights such as Jamón ibérico with fried egg and patatas fritas on toast, topped with honey and Mahón cheese. Je die! Opens in April 2015.

Little Dollhouse in Hoxton

Staring today, creative agency/bookshop/gallery, KK Outlet is hosting a Hattie Stewart exhibition called Dollhouse.

The East London based artist’s kaleidoscopic illustrations are drawn atop of old magazine covers, leather jackets and hologram artworks - all incredibly vivid in their colours and compositions.

Dollhouse is Hattie’s first London solo exhibition, and we highly recommend paying a visit in case you’re in need for a cheeky little something to cheer you up in the middle of this long grey winter.

Exhibition is open till February 28th at 42 Hoxton Square, London, N1 6PB.

Analogue Jungle

January is finally over and now we’re welcoming the month of Valentines, pancakes and interesting art. A heads-up, to see Pikin Slee by dutch photographer Vivianne Sassen at the ICA.

The exhibition explores the everyday life of an indigenous tribe deep in the Suriname rainforest through analogue photography.

What to expect: beautiful stills of the villagers and the nature that surrounds them as well as everyday objects turned into contemporary sculptures.

The exhibition opens its doors on Wednesday and continues until the 12th of April, so you will have plenty of time to give it a glimpse.

London Art (Af)Fairs

Get your dose of culture for the week at the London Art Fair, running for five days from Wednesday 21st until Sunday 25th. At the Business Design Centre in Islington, take a stroll through the 150 plus galleries exhibiting some of the best of contemporary and modern art.

Sound stressful? Our pick of the fair is The Multiple Gallery exhibiting a collection of artists such as Corinne Felgate, Yinka Shonibare and David Shringley. We especially fancy the mixture of different textures, flocked ceramics and brass sculptures on display.

Those struggling to make space in the diary can pop into Thursday Late with doors staying open until 9pm and very convenient complimentary drinks being served too. You can catch up with your friends after work and discuss the profound nature of the artwork - after gossips of course.

Top image: Corinne Felgate has modernised the iconic Wedgwood pottery and made it totally strokable.

Yinka Shonibare's "Kaleidoscope" ignites curiosity and makes us giggle in its exceptional appearance. Full disclosure: the object is actually a kaleidoscope.

David Shrigley's dysfunctional, giant brass tooth teases us with the fear of the dentist, yet we can't help but stare at our reflections on the shiny surface of the monstrosity.

Halloween How-To

Scarily, it’s October already and that means... Halloween! We’ve created a spooooktacular guide featuring some hair-raisingly fun events. It’s going to be a scream! We've also taken the hard work out and included some boo-tiful outfit suggestions. Guaranteed to look fang-tastic all year round and prevent you from looking like a pumpkin...

1. Always marked on the Anti Towers calendar, our friends at Tinaween host their annual party on Friday October 31st. This year’s theme, A Space Oddity, is literally out of this world. Our costume recommendation is Altaria Morbius from Forbidden Planet; get her look with our Century Skort in Bone and the Lassie Tee in White

2. If you’d rather a truly spooky Halloween, we recommend Fright Night at The Grand Union in Brixton and Wandersworth on Friday 31st. Get cosy in your own private treehouse, with the essentials: popcorn, electric heater and blanket. With a choice between two frightening classics, The Omen or The Exorcist, dress for both comfort and style in the Beagle Mini in Black. Pair it with either the Corgi Cardigan or the Copperplate Funnel for a look that will give you confidence - even if you're cowering behind a blanket.

3. On Saturday 1st November, Winterwell Festival prepares for its last ever party. Celebrating all past events, the theme is Ghosts of Winterwell Past. With a line up of DJs including Sink the Pink and Boom Brothers, prepare for a super sassy Halloween. We love the Once Upon a Time theme and will be throwing our Labradorable Jacket over the shoulders of our Beagle Shift for Cruella De Ville realness. Add long red gloves, cigarette holder and monochrome hair to complete.
